Capital Hill View Residence
This two story 1920’s home situated on North Capitol Hill was completely renovated with a third-story “attic” addition that provides two distinct atmospheres: the intimacy of an attic and the panorama of sweeping rooftop views of Portage Bay, Lake Washington, and the Cascade Mountains beyond. The addition was designed and constructed to create a private retreat for the family with a home office, a living area, a project area for the owners’ children, outdoor entertainment space and abundant storage. The deck is ipe wood with a railing that slopes backward, copying the angle of the roofline. The east-facing wall is made up of two huge windows with a gigantic sliding door in the middle, all of which had to be lifted in from the outside.
